ADVENTURE. That’s just one word that describes our love story. We met on July 7, 2017, at Callan and Kaylee’s wedding rehearsal in Laguna Beach. For those of you who do not know, Callan is Brayden’s brother and Kaylee is one of my best friends whom we roomed together for 5 years while going to Cal State Long Beach.
Little did we know that Callan and Kaylee’s love story would then lead us to ours...
We were both single, decided to not take our plus ones (thank goodness!) and we were both super content with the lives we were living at that time. People always say that when you aren’t expecting to find love, is usually when it happens... & in our case, that’s exactly what happened.
We made eye contact at the rehearsal party, found out we were partners in the wedding (how ironic... right?! Lol), and we both gave speeches to the bride and groom!
We danced the night away, shared our first kiss and had the best time together... But how realistic was this relationship when we were living in two different countries?
Well, turns out... we were both up for a little (or maybe a lot) of adventures...
Two days after the wedding and a day before Brayden’s flight back to Canada, Brayden decided to drive up the coast of California in a convertible that he rented... he claims it was the only car they had in store...(not sure if I believe that.. sounds like a movie right?) Anyways, he drove 4 hours from LA to Fresno just to spend 12 hours with me before he had to head back home to Canada. This was the beginning of our long-distance relationship where we endured many flights back and forth from California to Canada.... but it was completely and totally worth it. Those trips definitely got me used to the cold Canadian winters haha.
After a year of long-distance dating, Brayden decided to leave Whistler and move his life to be with me in Fresno. A year after that, he got down on one knee on a beach in Puerto Rico and asked me to be his wife. That was hands down one of the best days of our lives!!!
We are not saying that it was the most convenient road because long-distance relationships are no joke! However, we couldn’t be happier that we both followed our hearts which led us to each other. We are excited for the many more adventures to come (just please no more cliffs, Brayden) and can’t wait to see the rest of our love story unfold.
